Principal's Message - TFD North

July 17th, 2019

Dear T.F. North Community,

The new school year is coming up quickly, as the first day of class for all students is Monday, August 19th. I’m honored to serve our families as building Principal. While this is my first year as Principal, I have been a part of the T.F. North family for 17 years as both a Teacher and an Assistant Principal. We are excited for the upcoming year as the Board of Education and Superintendent Lance continue to focus on student learning and well-being with every decision and initiative. This focus has resulted in an increased offering in Advanced Placement classes, Restorative Practices, Navience College and Career readiness platform, and Tyler student information system, and becoming an ALICE trained school. In the building, our Freshmen House is in the process of receiving all new classroom doors, and the front entrance will now have a locked vestibule for added safety.

Book Pick-up will take place on August 6th, 7th, and 8th from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Remember, all parents MUST register their students online using our Tyler student information system. This process will begin on July 24th and will require you to use the valid email address that we have on file. If you do not have access to a computer before Book Pick Up, we will make the building available on select days to complete the process here at North.

All freshmen must have a current physical with up to date immunizations. This must be completed within one calendar year of entry in 9th grade and submitted to the school nurse during Book Pickup. Students will not be able to complete the registration process without this documentation and therefore will not be able to attend school until the required documents are on file.

The Meteors’ Athletic/Activities Department is excited to begin a new school year. All fall sports (Cross Country, Football, Golf, Boys Soccer, Girls Swimming, Girls Tennis, and Girls Volleyball) will officially begin their seasons on Monday, August 12th. We also have numerous clubs and activities for students to participate in. To ensure that your student is eligible to participate in any sport, they must have a current physical and have completed the necessary forms on our 8to18 website. You can log on and register your student at

If you are a new student, welcome to T.F. North! We are a welcoming school with high expectations that our students are Hardworking, Caring, Responsible, and Respectful. Be ready to push yourself to new levels and take responsibility for your actions. For our returning students, we are excited to have you back for another year and we will continue to have high expectations for you.

Parents, your involvement is essential to our success, and the success of your child. The high school years are just as formative as early childhood so it is vital to remain active in your child’s school even as they get older.  Decisions students make now can go a long way to set themselves up for success later in life. Talk to your students about school daily, check the Tyler parent portal often, and encourage them to take part in various athletics and activities. On average at North, students that are involved in at least one activity have a higher grade point average than those that are not involved in any extra-curricular activities. The saying “It takes a village to raise a child” has never been more true and we look forward to working with you to help your child achieve in whatever goals they aspire for.
