ACT Testing Delay and Dismissal Update

Dear Parent/Guardian,

This morning, ACT experienced a nationwide system issue that caused a delay in the start of the exam for high schools across the country. After about an hour’s delay, students were able to begin testing. Unfortunately, this issue has resulted in a delayed dismissal time, which is expected to be between 40 and 60 minutes later than originally planned.

Grade 11 students testing at Thornton Fractional South are expected to be dismissed between 1:50 p.m. and 2:10 p.m. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please know that this issue was beyond our control, but the most important update is that your student will have a finalized ACT score once the exam is complete.

We are working with the bus company to update travel times and coordinate routes for this unexpected delay.

In accordance with ACT procedures, students cannot be released individually. They will only be dismissed once the final exam has been submitted, and students will not be allowed to leave early from the exam room. Please note that leaving early may result in the forfeiture of the exam.

We appreciate your understanding and patience during this unexpected delay.

Thank you,

John O'Rourke
