Restorative Practices Are:

An approach to resolving conflicts and preventing harm. Restorative approaches enable those who have been harmed to convey the impact of the harm to those responsible, and for those responsible to acknowledge this impact and take steps to put it right.

 Restorative Practices help...

  • Resolve conflict, hold individuals and groups accountable.
  • Repair harm and restore positive relationships.
  • Reduce, prevent, and improve harmful behavior.
  • Build healthy relationships between educators and students.
  • Address and discuss the needs of the school community.

Examples of Restorative Practices in our district:

  • Restorative Circles
  • Community Circles
  • Mediations (peer to peer) or (teacher to student)
  • Problem solving sessions with school counselor, social worker, or psychologist 
  • Time out in a calming environment with an adult to de-escalate. 
  • Alternatives to suspensions
  • Social Emotional Learning Lessons
