Testing Information


Students are given multiple practice exams in preparation for State mandated examinations. Below is a general testing schedule.

Freshmen Year


October - EXPLORE (Practice ACT)

January - EXPLORE (Practice ACT)

April - PLAN (Practice ACT)

Sophomore Year


October - PLAN (Practice ACT)

January - PLAN (Practice ACT)

April - Practice ACT

Junior Year


At the high school level, students enrolled in English III will be assessed in English Language Arts, students enrolled in Algebra II / Math III will be assessed in mathematics, and students enrolled in both English III and Algebra II / Math III will be assessed in English Language Arts and mathematics, regardless of grade level.

  • The Testing & Education Reference Center provides ACT practice tests, as well as an ACT online course, which offers highly personalized instruction for the exam. (Call Ms. Wall at (708) 585-1029 for password.)
  • Juniors and seniors that qualify for free or reduced lunch can get a fee waiver code from their guidance counselors.

PSAT/NMSQT

The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a program co-sponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). It's a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT®. It also gives you a chance to enter NMSC scholarship programs and gain access to college and career planning tools.

TF North students are recommended to take the exam during their sophomore and junior years. The exam is administered at TF North on a Saturday in October. Payment can be made in the TF North Bookstore.
