Music Department

North Band has over 140 students enrolled throughout the program. Upon its inception in the 1930's the band has continuously performed at the highest level of music standards giving students the opportunity to express their fine arts abilities. The band program performs at football games, basket ball games, Calumet City Labor Day Parade, Conference Honor Band, IHSA State Contest and Solo-Ensemble. College or university tours are also a part of the program curriculum to promote musical achievement. “The Band” hosts the holiday concert in December and the Grand Band Concert in the spring. Grand Band includes performances by all of the Calumet City area middle school bands as well as all of the North performance ensembles. The band concludes each year by performing for the senior graduation ceremony.

Band Boosters of Thornton Fractional North are the parent volunteer support group for the band program. One of the most active parent groups at North, the band boosters help with the uniform, organization of performances, monthly meetings and chaperoning trips. Membership is automatic once your student is involved in one of the band groups. Welcome!
